Before I write about the Lighthouse Inn Dennis wedding venue, I want to give you some historical information about this quintessential Cape Cod spot, as it’s exciting to mention. Lighthouse Inn locates in Dennis on the shore of Nantucket Sound in the middle of beautiful Cape Cod.

Initially, the main building was not conceived and built as a hotel or an event venue. In the past, before the construction of the Cape Cod Canal, the Bass river was a vital transport artery and was used by many ships and fleets. So the lighthouse named West Dennis Light was built in the middle of the 19th century for navigation purposes. 

When it comes to the lighthouse, everyone thinks of a tower, but such buildings – the lighthouse combined with the house of the lighthouse keeper, were widespread at that time. By the way, West Dennis Light is the only one of this type on Cape Cod. Since lighthouses at that time lit with fuel, fires were not uncommon. So lighthouses were built as freestanding towers. 

The lighthouse was fully operational before the Cape Cod Canal opened at the beginning of the 20th century. Since then, the load on the Bass river reduced, and the lighthouse has ceased to function. Harry K. Noyes bought the territory and all the buildings as a summer residence for his family. He enlarged the main lighthouse building, landscaped the area, and built several additional cottages. After he died in 1933, the lighthouse was bought by the then State Senator Everett Stone and gradually turned into a guest house. It is a family business since then, and the Lighthouse Inn still belongs to the Stone family.

This Cape Cod wedding venue attracts many couples who want to spend their wedding weekend on the beach and at the historic hotel. This venue is perfect for mid-size events but can fit up to 200 guests. A wedding ceremony can happen on the lawn with an ocean view or a beach. The Inn provides different options for accommodation for your guests, which I consider very convenient. 

My favorite area is a waterfront deck where cocktail hour is usually happening.
